Upgrade and downgrade rules
- Monthly → Lifetime: the unused portion of your current month credits toward the $200 lifetime fee. We don't stack credits across months.
- Lifetime → Monthly: not allowed. Lifetime is a one-time purchase.
- Connected tier upgrade (when Connected launches): pro-rated through the payment processor; your token counter resets to zero on upgrade and your 30-day cycle restarts. Limit 1 reset per 14 days (otherwise people would game the upgrade flow).
- Connected tier downgrade (when Connected launches): the difference between tiers credits toward future Memagen™ subscription. The credit expires after 90 days. We don't issue cash refunds on tier differentials — only forward credit.
- Fairness budget: every account has an invisible $50/year fairness budget. Refunds, credits, concessions all draw from it. 99% of accounts will never approach it. For the rest, we look at the case rather than say no by default. Read the integrity page for the full philosophy.

- Why no free trial of Pro Memagen™ Local?
- The first 100 buyers get founder-member access to Pro Memagen™ Connected for free, when Connected launches. That's the trial. Without it, the answer is: Memagen™ Lite is the trial. It's free, MIT-licensed, fully functional, and gives you everything except the proprietary graph engine.
- Why bring-your-own-LLM?
- Because we have $43 in our bank account and we will not float your LLM bills with money we don't have. Connected (which bundles LLM credits) launches once Local sales fund the runway. Lite and Local both run on keys you already have at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, NIM, or local models via Ollama and llama.cpp.
- What happens to my Lifetime if Memagen™ goes under?
- You keep the version of Pro Memagen™ Local you have. The license file on your machine is offline-valid. We escrow the latest stable build against the founder dying or the company folding (this is part of the EULA). The license server going dark does not brick your install — license re-validation has a 90-day fallback grace, and if the server stays dark for 90 days, the binary unlocks unconditionally.
- Can I get a refund?
- Within 14 days, yes. Outside 14 days, the fairness-budget process applies. Lifetime purchases get pro-rated equivalent monthly credit if your refund window has passed and the case is reasonable.
